Psychology Service

Psychology Service

Following a physical injury, a client may require psychological input to assist them in their recovery to achieve and maintain maximal level of health and independence in their usual daily activities and relationships.

What to Expect:

Following approval from ACC for Psychology Service a client will see one of our experienced Clinical Psychologists for an initial assessment where an understanding of the client’s situation is sought, together with the client, goals are then developed to assist recovery.

Psychology sessions are then undertaken, clients are supported and encouraged by their Psychologist to work through issues and challenges.
Provision of education to the family and whanau of the client about the effects of psychological problems following injury is encouraged in order to foster strong recovery and coping strategies as part of the rehabilitation.

Follow up progress and completion reports are submitted to ACC
Clients should have sufficient support in place on completion of Psychological Services programme to maintain progress made.
